Several new stores and businesses have recently opened or are planned to open soon in Legana as part of the ongoing $20 million town centre upgrade and other developments.
Recently Opened Businesses
- Tas Petroleum: Officially opened its new site on the corner of Legana Park Drive and Innova Avenue in November 2025.
- Fermentation HQ (FermenTasmania Hub): This hub for new and established fermentation businesses opened its doors in mid-2025.
- Niche Plants: Re-opened at the former Legana Plants Plus location in March 2025.
Upcoming Stores and Facilities
As part of the major developments in the area, the following are expected to open:
- New Restaurants: A French restaurant (Emina's) and an Indian restaurant (Tassie Dhaba) are planned for a new development at 20 Tatana Way, with openings anticipated in early 2026.
- Retail and Service Stores: The 20 Tatana Way development will also include a barber and a nail salon.
- Additional Specialty Shops: The Legana shopping centre expansion involves new retail spaces around Tatana Way, including plans for more specialty stores.
- Child Care Centre: A new childcare centre is currently under construction and is expected to be operational early in 2026.
- New Ambulance Station: Construction for a new state government ambulance station is expected to begin in early 2026 and finish later that year.
- Woolworths Refurbishment: The existing Woolworths is undergoing major refurbishments, including a renovated interior and a drive-through "direct to boot" service.
